Minarca on ARM64: Early Build Available for Testing

If you’ve been following Minarca development, you know we’re always looking to expand platform support to fit more real-world environments. Today, I’m happy to share some progress on a request that’s come up more than once: ARM64 support for the Minarca client.

Why It Took a While

Honestly, this one took longer than I expected — not because the work itself was overly complex, but because I was waiting on the right hardware to get proper ARM64 builds and testing done. Once the hardware finally arrived, I got to work setting up the pipeline: configuring GitLab runners for ARM64, then rolling up my sleeves to get the actual build working end-to-end.

It’s one of those projects where most of the effort goes into the plumbing before you even get to the interesting part. But that plumbing is now in place.

What’s Available Now

I’m happy to say a first development build of the Minarca client for ARM64 is ready. It’s early, it’s not polished, but it works — and now I need real-world testing on real ARM64 hardware to make sure it holds up outside of my own setup.

If you run ARM64 systems (Raspberry Pi, ARM-based servers, or other ARM64 Linux devices) and you’re curious to try it out, I’d genuinely appreciate the help.

How You Can Help

  • Download the development build (link to above)
  • Install it on your ARM64 system
  • Run your usual backup workflow
  • Reply to this post with your feedback — bugs, quirks, things that work great, anything

Every bit of feedback helps shape this into a stable release.

One Important Note

I’m heading out for vacation for the next two weeks starting now. Please don’t let that stop you from testing and leaving feedback in the meantime — I’ll read everything, I just won’t be able to act on it until I’m back. Consider this a great window to break things without waiting on a same-day fix. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Next in my roadmap, adding RPM build too !

i’ve installed the ARM64 version on about 20 Ubuntu 24 systems,
the installation and backups worked perfectly.

Just to make sure. You are aware this is still in beta version. I would not deploy this package in production. But thanks for the feedback !
